WAVES Testing, Research and Consulting was formed to provide independent validation, consultation and guidance related to all areas of lighting.

We understand the human factors of lighting, including cost and performance, and also the impact of lighting on fauna.  We aim to achieve the right balance when we approach our work to achieve the best outcomes for our Clients.

The Director of WAVES, Adrian Cupitt, has 15 years experience in photometric testing, research and consulting.

WAVES was founded in 2019 and has built a reputation for going above and beyond for our clients.

To promote the benefits of good lighting design and to help Councils, Government and the Public realise the opportunities for cost saving and reduced impact on wildlife as a result of reducing light pollution and ensuring good lighting planning.  This is achieved through technical expertise and evidence-based decision making.

Director of WAVES Testing, Research and Consulting

 Adrian Cupitt

Adrian holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physics) degree from Queensland University of Technology, 2005.

From March 2006 – June 2018 Adrian worked at QUT’s NATA accredited Photometric Laboratory.  Adrian held roles as Senior Technician and Director whilst also providing optical and technical assistance to academics and students of optometry, radiography, digital image processing and general physics.

Adrian has been involved in a wide range of complex lighting challenges; from set up and calibration of custom photometric testing apparatus, to testing and development of compliant lighting products, to bench-marking for Planning Scheme updates – and everything in between.

His expertise are measurement of light and reducing light pollution.
